Adventures in the Sierra Nevadas

The Sierra Nevada Mountains are my backyard: Desolation Wilderness, the Mokelumne, Yosemite, the Pacific Crest Trail.

Well, pretty close, at least. I feel exceptionally lucky to have these places within a few hours drive.

Over the years the Sierras have been my salvation and sanctuary from the craziness of life in the twenty first century. My essays and blog-posts about my hikes and back-packing trips to these places are an earnest attempt to share some of the serenity and insights the mountains have given to me, in the hope of communicating something of a sense of appreciation for the Sierra Nevada Mountains and an understanding of why they are worth preserving.
